it's been really nice, after all the visiting with people, going out and doing things over the past couple of weeks, to just stay home and do my own thing for a couple of days. yesterday i busted ass all day on the website and got a lot of stuff figured out. today i went to the gym, finished one of a pair of socks i'm knitting for someone to throw away, spent a good long chunk of time redrawing the background for this painting i've been wanting to start for a while - i finally got to start actually painting it and i think it's comin along kinda cool... not done in any sense of the word yet. the hooker's leg is gonna be wearing fishnet stockings which i'd like to sew on there, it'd be kinda cool i think...also, if you ever want to make me bawl like a little baby you'll make me listen to maya angelou speak. she was the guest speaker at trav's scad graduation, and she made me cry buckets when she talked about the song "when the saints go marching in". it's something about her voice, maybe it's that it's so soothing and grandmotherly... today she was on oprah and she was talking about stories behind the recipes in her new book, and i had to bust out the kleenex. maybe i just really like red rice, i dunno...

maybe you were thinking about your good ol' days as a hooker
ahahhhahahhahaa yes!!!
upon looking at the painting after coming home from bowling i have decided everything in the background is way too dark and i can't tell what anything is. and if i can't tell what anything is and i painted the damn thing, that's not a very good sign. so this week i'm gonna spend some time fixin' that... hooray for hookerleg!
just so you know... I am doing everything in my power to come up with the money to buy apple takes a stroll, just because i love it sooooo much. i showed my roomate the picture of it and she almost died because it's so perfect for our living room. someday it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine!!!!!
Steph-
That painting is looking awesome.
I wanna see a finished pic of it.
You know, Maya Angelou is great too.
My world was shattered though a few years after she spoke at our school, to learn that, at graduation, she was drunk beyond belief. A friend I worked with at Hyatt told me. His uncle is Berny Casey at SCAD....what good dish.
Any time I hear "Oh when the saints...." I get the faint smell of booze wafting under my nose.
Wacky, huh?
oh my freaking lord maya gets 200 points for that!!!
i'm serious.
and angela, i'm almost really glad apple didn't sell at the coffeehouse cuz i'd much rather it be in your living room than joe shmoe from craptown usa's!
that hooker leg looks like one of those on black velvet paintings. you should consider that medium. velvet is hot
oh man that'd be sweet! all i'd do is velvet paintings of american icons. like maybe elvis. that'd be neat... i don't think enough people paint pictures of elvis on black velvet...
also, it's so tempting to go in there and put a lampshade at the top of the leg, and write fragile in big fat letters across it.
HAHAHAHAHAH sounds italian. that'd make you like leonardo davinci or some shit!
