the hearts and laserbeams blog!

recently blogger decided we can't publish my blog to my own website anymore so here we are! pardon the dust, and please visit us online at www.heartsandlaserbeams.com!

hearts and laserbeams is the wacky good-times art and design by me, steph calvert. i team up with robots, cupcakes, and stick people to show people art isn’t all about seriousness, missing ears, and deep thoughts; it can actually be tons of fun.

Its a medically proven fact that theres no better way to deal with the loss of ones appendix than to receive a happy stuffed one from steph and josh!

Steph, your above commenters make a very good point--there would absolutely be a market for cute, stuffed organs. You've read about the stuffed microbes, yes?

And I'm 1000% certain that your stuffed organs would be much cuter. Maybe we could start a business together. I'll write up the tags with the boring information about the Stupendous Spleen (Stan the Spleen?) and you could create a plush spleen...

... an opportunity calls!!!

guys, i freakin love it.

i think i wanna do this small scale at first, mostly because that store of mine's been up for a long-ass time and like 2 tshirt transfers have sold as a result... i just don't have enough people that heart me yet, i guess. i dunno.

but april appendix, i took some good photos of her last night and she'll be up in the shop soon, i think it's gonna be a make em if they get ordered type of thing, you know? can't remember exactly what it was that i put on the card around her neck, but it was something to the effect of:

"meet april appendix! she's here to help you cope with your recent loss - just give her a hug whenever you get lonely and miss all the good times you had with your old appendix!"

but yeah - i definitely want to do more - maria i would love your medical input... i kind of like the idea of doing them for something, you know? like having your appendix taken out, or a happy kidney to celebrate a transplant or dialysis or something like that... we should definitely talk about that.

I love it!

Dude, ETSY. That stuff would sell like hotcakes. Especially if you have a story to go with each one. That's HUGE right now.

Not like I'm an expert or anything, but I know some stuff.

And you guys SO did not have to send a card or anything, but thank you both SO MUCH. We heart you guys, too.

In the random memories category: When I was in 8th grade home ec, the final project was a stuffed and embroidered cupcake pillow made of felt that was big enough to fit 2 heads on. I wonder what ever happened to that...

Stuffed guns. How avant-garde.
