i'm almost sad it's friday!

so the new job starts monday - while i'm super excited about it, it has been so much fun being a fulltime hearts and laserbeams employee this week. i got so much accomplished that's been on the back burner for ages, including:

- did 7 (almost 8! maybe 8 by the end of the weekend) new paintings. 2 for an upcoming halloween show in echo park, 5 (or 6) for a robot series i've been wanting to do for freaking forever. i'm hoping to be able to wrangle a solo show sometime in the future with these robots...

- updated the shop and the etsy store with like 70something things that should've been listed a longass time ago

- learned more about and started to perfect my screen burning technique for screenprinting by burning a total of 7 screens (4 of which need to be cleaned out cuz they stank! thanks to everyone who offered their tips and tricks, i'm really starting to get it!)

- designed four new tees

- screenprinted some tees

- hung out with brian who was in town on business!

- sewed some new scarves

- knit 2 earflap hats for me and the boy

- started xmas shopping

- bought supplies for new purses that i'm super excited to start making this weekend

- did a buttload of laundry

- washed all our windows

- spent lots of time at the dog park

- watched oprah a bunch

- laughed at how dumb tyra is on her talk show

so yes! happy weekending, i'm hoping i can stay productive in my last couple days of housewifeness, and i'll regale you with tales of the new jobby job soon!

don't believe everything you read on the internet...

contrary to what i read on the internets earlier today, the sun is not a preferable method of burning a screen for screenprinting. i had that screen sitting in the bright bright sun for 2.5 hours and it still hadn't finished burning all the way, and it was too late by the time i realized that.

i have 2 more screens to try with using the regular photoflood bulb method, i'm crossing my fingers they work cuz otherwise i'm hanging up my screenprinting hat forever! or at least til i get some more photo emulsion so i can get the hang of this thing. it's actually kind of cool having something kick my ass like this, i wanna beat it SO BAD. like a really hard level of tetris or something. GARRRRR!!!

so angela tells me wait 5 minutes before you leave your house and we should get to bob's big boy at the same time. i figure this is the perfect time to tell you the story about how the bob's big boy in bismarck, north dakota has 2, count em 2 big boy statues in front. because the original one got stolen. and later, when the restaurant finally got it's replacement statue, the people who stole the first one brought it back. so now there's a shiny new one and a shitty old one out front. i went looking for a picture of it on google images and i didn't see it, but this came up in my search - enjoy!

awesome friends, you do not follow the windows cuz they brighten the whole place, i just saved the best for last.

i'm really looking forward to a week and a half of painting and making stuff. stay tuned!

and if you could keep your fingers crossed that i get into felt club this time around, that'd be grand - here's hoping!

punk rock at the drive in postponed!

hey there, so punk rock drive in's date got changed to sept. 22! i won't be able to make it there now since i'd already signed up for a space at long beach city college's music and art festival, but if you go to the drive-in be sure to visit other awesome vendors like suzi boneshaker, mixed breed creations and urban construction!

don't forget to come to punk rock at the drive in on saturday!

it's funny... any given razr phone has the same smell.

it's this weird mix of B.O. and electronics. grab someone's razr and take a whiff, that's what you'll smell.

except for mine. which now smells like coffee.

yesterday morning i get to work, sit down with my little cup of joe from the coffee machine. set it on the desk. see josh calling my cell phone. reach across the desk to get the phone and SPLOOOOOOSH!!!!! there was coffee everywhere, and i mean EVERYWHERE. one of the side buttons on my phone is iffy now, but it sorta works, which is better than nothing, which is what it was doing yesterday.

at least it smells like coffee now, that's all i gotta say about that.

and go buy yourself a copy of blades of glory, it is muy deliciouso!
