the hearts and laserbeams blog!

recently blogger decided we can't publish my blog to my own website anymore so here we are! pardon the dust, and please visit us online at www.heartsandlaserbeams.com!

hearts and laserbeams is the wacky good-times art and design by me, steph calvert. i team up with robots, cupcakes, and stick people to show people art isn’t all about seriousness, missing ears, and deep thoughts; it can actually be tons of fun.

true story...

some things of note:

* happy birthday to maria! my favorite thing about maria is she never gets upset with me when i ask embarassing medical questions like where do babies come from.

* "joey" by concrete blonde - josh heard it on the radio today and called to tell me so, and now it's stuck in both our heads. JOEY, I'M NOT ANGRY ANYMORE!!! though i do still hate that joey show the dude from friends is on. what a piece of crap. i hope it's already cancelled.

* melissa of axelhoney.com and i have just started lady scouts, because we're both into arts and crafts and want to make more of both! think girl scouts with less cookie sales, more artsy crafty get togethers, and even more booze. check out the lady scouts blog here!

our first task as lady scouts has been to apply to be a vendor at this year's bazaar bizarre, meaning we'll be selling all kinds of cool arts and crafts! so exciting! the application was submitted last night, keep your fingers crossed that we get in!

* i feel like i should be drinking a beer right now, i don't know why. i may be taking care of that quite soon.

i just made tokyo drift in my pants

okay, so there's this new show on abc and i forget what it's called, but basically they get these people with funky talents, and then they take it one step further so it's just completely wacky and absurd, and it's kinda dumb but ultra-awesome at the same time...

tonight they had a competition between two drift racers, you know the kind, a'la zee fast zee furious tokyo drift in theaters this summer, and they took the cars and put a big fat cheese grater on the front of em. and then each took a turn drifting around a big wheel of cheese, and then whoever grated the most cheese won.

no seriously, it might just be the best show ever.

slack attack courtesy of smack. that's heroin, people.

seriously, i feel like i haven't been online in ages and ages. what the hell! and there's not even a ton to tell you about since the last time i posted. so here's a bunch of random little updates.

told you about the dog... oh the dog. he is adorable and was housetrained after one day in our house. because we beat him severely that one time, which was more than enough.

i kid, i kid! we didn't beat him, we just cut his ears off.

so i guess that's been most of my free time lately, getting into a new schedule with this little guy and hanging out with josh. we've done a bunch of work on the place, and the living room's lookin' hott, if i do say so myself.

oh also i boiled some artichokes last night - if you ask me, it's kinda too much work for how little of the artichoke you actually eat when you get down to it, but damn they're tasty and every now and again it's kinda worth it.

i'm very excited about the possibility of doing bazaar bizarre this december, i hope that comes through. if it does, it just may be a wonderful kick in the artpants for me to make a ton of new shit. a fun new project's on the horizon, i can't wait for the stuff to come in the mail... and i can't tell you about it because i'm a jerk!! ha!

there's been a ton going on this week as far as wedding planning, too... remember those awesome magnets i was so excited to be sending out weeks ago? okay, i'm really almost done with them. they're really almost going out in the mail next week. seriously. i'm not making this shit up.

the omen sucked, don't waste your time unless you like flushing ten dollars down the drain. nacho libre, on the other hand, was quite hilarious indeed. my favorite part involved the flinging of the corn on the stick into the dude's eye.

i still haven't seen any of the hell's kitchen episodes for this season yet, and can i tell you I AM PISSED!!!?! nah, just kidding, it's just television who cares. but man, i'm seriously annoyed at least.

welcome to the livejournal readers, i've just decided i'm gonna put my blog on yet another outlet to try and meet some online art kids!

there's talks between josh and i as to what the joint website's domain name will be when we get hitched - if you've heard the name already please please keep it to yourself so it's a fun happy surprise for everyone. and also we haven't bought the domain name yet so keep it under your hat! or at least in your pocket if you don't wear a hat.

i guess that's all the tiny little quick updates i've got for you right this second. i'll try and get better about getting online, i promise. now go to bed!

jimmy the greek rhymes with tres chic

okay so it's been freaking forever since i posted. i've been keeping busy doing things like crocheting cupcakes, working like a chump, remodelling around the house with josh and pooping a lot. i mean A LOT. take the biggest amount of poop you can think of, and then multiply that by like fifty. yeah, see what i mean? that's a lot of dung.

but most importantly, there's been a new addition to the steph and josh household! we adopted a 7 month old yellow lab/cattle dog mix from noah's ark animal rescue this last sunday! aaaaaaaaw yeah!!! we named him jimmy the greek after an old sportscaster that played a bookie on cannonball run, and he's been just awesome to have around! coolest dog ever. EVER. sharp as a tack, and twice as shiny! and ultra friendly to everyone he meets. just an awesome, awesome dog.

i don't know if he'll be as fond of us come thursday, though, when we have two things that are very special to him removed. can't help it, jimmy my dear, we're just doing what bob barker tells us to. you just can't argue with the price is right dude.

check out photos of the little guy here!
